Riky Rick was one of the greatest South African Rappers. Not only that, he was a fashion trailblazer!

Besides from an incredible music career, Riky was well known for his impeccable fashion sense. So much so that he went by the name King Kotini, coining the phrase "cotton eater" to refer to those with an appetite for fashion.

Riky Rick rose to mainstream fame in 2014 with the hit single Nafukwa. Thereafter he released his first studio album, Family Values, which included the hit song Boss Zonke, clearly indicating which side of himself he wanted to present more of.

Ungazincishi - Well well, this is my favorite.

Sidlukotini - This song topped the charts and won a Best Hit Single Award at the Metro FM Music Awards.

Boss Zonke - This song had South Africa crazy. He really established what his brand is actually about.

Nafukwa - He blew up because of this song.

Riky Rick's Legacy

Although Riky lived a short life on Earth, he did make a huge impact on South African youth. His family, whose real name was Rikhado Makhado, confirmed his death on the 23rd of February 2022. The 34-year-old leaves behind two children, Jordan and Maik, and his wife Bianca Naidoo.

One of his greatest achievements, in addition to his music legacy, is the establishment of Cotton Fest in 2019, which will be hosted again 2026, on the 28th of March. This festival kick starts the year in style. You can get your tickets here: #COTTONFEST2026
